Dishonest Management, Terrible Place

Think twice before moving here. ----- told me there was minimal noise from upstairs when he showed me an apartment on the second floor. There were no third floor two bedroom apartments available. No way. I could hear every single step from my upstairs neighbors, it was horribly noisy. Apparently it is a known problem and I just wasn't told the truth. I think they will tell you anything to get you to rent from there.
So I bit the bullet and paid the BIG lease break fee of one month's rent to move to the third floor. Seemed really unfair since I was not moving out of the complex, had been lied to, and I had just moved there. Shortly after I moved to the new apartment I got complaints from my downstairs neighbor about noise, go figure. She must not have known either that if you move there you cannot care about your neighbors walking on your ceiling and hearing their TV, etc so you cant even watch a movie. BTW I am single, rarely home and I never wear shoes in the house!!
Not to mention there is absolutely ZERO parking for guests. The pool is noisy late into the night even though they say it closes at 10pm. There is noone that walks the grounds ever, so how would they know' The carports are way too small and my neighbor cant seem to park straight so I can't get in and out of my car half the time.
The main manager --- is a super-jerk and will never listen to a word you say when you talk to him. He only cares about the rent. I told him that a dog was basically living on one of the patios of the apartments. It barks constantly so I know. He's a good actor and acted appalled, but nothing ever happened. I found out why, it is a friend of -------'s, a ------------- there. ------- was parked in the red zone to pick up his friend. I couldn't park in my space because his car was in the way.
"-----------------" ----- is not able to do much even though he seems like a nice guy.
The place is expensive for the area, especially with pet rent and extra parking spaces.
This place sucks, I decided to cut my losses and move out. According to the management I have to pay ANOTHER lease break fee even though I paid it less than a month ago!
I wish someone had told me this. Take my advice and look elsewhere.

I actually live in the same community and I have to say I've never had a single problem with pet noise during the "quiet hours" (10pm-8am), nor have I had any issues with the friendly staff in the office. I've been here quite awhile and I must say I've never had any problems with anyone in the office - quite the contrary, they've been absolutely fantastic. I live on the 2nd floor as well, and the unit above me has hardwood - there is a certain amount of sound that come through their hardwood flooring, but that is to be expected in apartment living. If I had wanted silence I would've moved to some cottage in the mountains. :) I'm sure anyone who approaches the office staff with the same courteous, understanding attitude with which they approach the residents, will find absolutely no problems during their time here at Monterey Grove.

Leaving a dog on an apartment balcony all day to bark seems inappropriate to me, and the manager confirmed that the dog should not be living on the balcony. That has nothing to do with quiet hours, it does bark all day. I am sure that is a bummer for the person upstairs as well. You have had a good experience with Monterey Grove, perhaps you should have a more "understanding attitude" with those who have not. The noise from the apartments upstairs may be minimal to you, but you can hear every step from an upstairs neighbor. My neighbor downstairs said it was the worst upstairs noise she has ever experienced out of the 3 apartments she has lived in. As you mentioned, perhaps because of the flooring. Doesn't matter if you have to live with it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Thanks Felina & I have dealt with the manager before and agree he is a SUPER JERK!!! The office staffs are a bunch of liars and I'm SO GLAD that I didn't sign a lease with them. THANK GOD!!!! RENTERS BEWARE!!!!!
