Pros and Cons of living at the Oaks

I have been a resident here at the Oaks for about 5 months now..

Here are some pros and cons of living here:

Pros:

1) An ideal location, close to all major freeway and lightrail.

2) Starbucks is nearby

3) There is lease breakage clause, meaning that you dont have to pay the entire amount (until end of lease term) if there is a need to move out early.

4) Maintenance staff are very responsive.

5) good size bathroom

6) 5 acre Park is nearby, however with all the land that is available, they should build a tennis court or basketball court.

7) underground garage parking.

Cons:

1) Leasing Consultants and managers ARE NOT very responsive/ lack of follow up, even after leaving messages and stopping by the office. I feel that they just want to attract new residents, and once you move in, they ignore your needs.

2) Fitness center is still not yet open. We were told that it is due to open on 9/30.

Pool was delayed by 1 month as well, was not open until end of August.

3) If you live near the construction site, it is extremely noisy. Workers are loud, and start working very early- 6:30 or so.

For the first few months that I lived here, there were continous construction projects going on. Environment is very dusty as well.

4)Cabinets are poorly made, some of the paint inside the cabinet has started to chip off.

5) rent is still relatively high in this market. one bedroom is $1600.00 when you can get something a lot less expensive at other complex.

6) Ants can be a problem occasionally

7) Only direct TV is available as cable service, and it is ridiculously expensive. They should consider having AT&T as a subscriber.

Overall, the oaks is a nice community. Most residents are very friendly. However, I would also recommend new residents to look into the pines and cypress, pines is already an established community and has a very nice club house and fitness center.
