Woke up this morning to about 25,000 ants raiding my cat's food dish. "Good enough" construction allowed them to come in through some gaps in the floor and molding of the closets. Luckily had some bug spray or I'm afraid they would've taken my cat, who was looking on in horror as they took away his food. :)
Management was very responsive however and had a bug guy there in a couple hours to spray the apartment down...inconvenient though as the stuff is toxic and you have to leave for 4 hours.
Overall would recommend. Helpful to know something about home improvement though to fix some problems yourself...even though the buildings are new, simple stuff is overlooked (like cutting molding correctly or at least caulking the hole) that could've prevented this ant situation. Also water heaters and piping are left uninsulated, etc.

I've had problems with ants as well. Unfortunately with ants regardless of how well you think the apartment is sealed ants still will find a way in. Usually ants come in when it's cold/rainy or hot weather, also if you leave food out or the kitchen isn't as clean as it could be (I've had lots of ant problems over the years which is why I know so much about ants). I'd suggest letting maintence at the property take care of the major stuff. It is good to know home improvement though.
