Mixed: beautiful setting, but has drawbacks

I've been living here nearly one year. First, I have to say...some of these reviews are very strange. What's up with people asking for "shopping carts" or "service carts"' What are those...I've NEVER seen/heard of a complex providing "carts". And "haunted corridors" and complaining about not being able to see in your neighbors apartment' Only in CA would someone think that's a bad thing! But anyway...
The good: beautiful setting with a huge park outside the front door, which I LOVE. It's so nice to go for a walk (has a nice path around it), sit on the bench with a cup of coffee from Starbucks (on site). They have equipment like volleyball nets you can sign out,the pools are beautiful and clean, fitness centers are great, and rarely crowded, and the bbq's are a nice extra. Safe garage parking is good. Also nice is that the staff takes packages for you and are open 7 days/week. They are nice. Maintenance is quick to respond, always been same day, even though it's never been urgent. That's great.
The downside: allows animals and I got the little yapper next door. The thing never shuts the hell up. But that's my problem I guess, just bad luck. Walls/ceilings are the usual too thin but I spoke to my upstairs neighbor and it's been better (too much bass on his tv, thud, thud, thud). Elevator is constantly broken BUT there's another down the hall, which is nice. Only real issue for me is lack of closet space. one bedroom has just one closet in the bedroom...it has a linen shelf and there's storage on the porch, but I have a lot of clothing. I can't imagine a couple living in here with such poor closet space. Also, they said the complex would have a bike room on each floor, and there are none, which is odd. Oh yeah, if you live here do NOT live on the side facing the construction. It's God-awfully noisy, even on Sat/Sun there are trucks beeping, at 6-7am. I don't get that, since they make little progress. The dust/dirt floats up and lands on your balcony, it is disgustingly dirty but hard to clean. Eventually, they'll be done with it though.
Overall, I am happy here, very nice location with great shopping 1 mile away at Rivermark, lightrail outside (they give you a free pass!) and airport 2.5 miles. Unfortunately, my lease is up and they want to raise my rent $200 to do month-to-month. Well i can't do it because of the economy, I may be laid off. So, they are losing me...my neighbors moved, too, same reason. Can't understand why they would jack up the rent in these times. They also screwed them out of most of their deposit.
