We've been renting a top floor 2 bed apartment at Pines for the last 2 months. Overall we've really enjoyed living here and am a little surprised at all the negative reviews.

It's a nice quiet place, I've never heard people shouting or noisy kids or parties etc. The only real noise is from San Jose airport when you hear planes taking off but that kind of depends on the weather, wind direction etc. Just bear in mind you're quite close to the airport (as are all apartments in this and the rivermark area). Equally if you need to fly often for business trips it's useful to be close. You're also only 5 or so minutes drive from 237, 101 and 880 which is useful.

The only real negative is that there isn't much in the way of shops, restaurants or bars on your door step, you either have to drive or take the light rail to get somewhere.

The apartment build quality is average to above average, certainly seems to be very similar to other modern properties we looked at. The floors are concrete and solid, the walls are wood, the kitchen's here are well made and solid with granite surfaces. The grounds and landscaping are really nice, they spend a lot of time keeping this looking good.

The pool and fitness center are also well kept with good quality machines and nice heated pool (which is a bit on the shallow side at 3 1/2 feet).

The staff at the lease center are ok, not the most efficient at getting things fixed but the maintenance guys will come, it may just be a couple of days wait.

The underground parking seems secure enough, the whole community is gated needing your key fob to gain entry.

We picked this place because we managed to find the perfect apartment for us, good location, top floor, south facing, lots of sun light.

If you're considering renting at North Park, I'd definately recommend looking at the new places also, like Redwoods which has some brand new units, but also near by they're close to completing a whole new block.

Based on our experience so far I think we'll stay here for the full 2 years we're going to be in the valley.

Be aware that a lot of the reviews here seem to be from disgruntled residents with a bit of a grudge to bear. Also consider how many reviews there are vs the number of people that are staying hear (I would guess a few hundred at north park).

Good luck with your apartment renting!
