Really, not that bad.
the negative: Biggest complaint is that walls are a bit thin, I can sometimes hear the neighbor when they crank up the stereo or a movie. There are some ants when it rains, like anyplace else in California. Rent increase was not liked, but looking around it was the market rent increase so can't complain specifically about The Pines (just about an expensive market). There have been some car break-ins this last year, but management did warn people and it's really not their fault. Gym at The Pines has some broken equipment (that's very annoying), but the new gym down the street at the new complex is quite nice and only a block away.
the positive: nice apartment interior, nice grounds, maintenance always pretty quick to fix when I open a request online, no parking problems, gas range much nicer than electric. W/D in apartment. Rent much cheaper than equivalent on the peninsula. Broken things in complex seem to get fixed pretty quick. For San Jose, not too bad. Considering moving but only because my job has moved up the peninsula.
