Almost anywhere is better

I am quite glad to finally be leaving this place and getting a house, aside from the obvious equity arguments.
The management truly does not care for the tenants. Every time I have called to get something done, I have had to call back once, twice, three times to remind them of when they said they would come. They take offense when you tell them you don't want them coming in without you there. In the almost 4 years I was there, management as a whole has changed around half a dozen times, and it seems that almost every month I go to pay the rent, there is a new face in the front office. They are quick to assume you are wrong, they are often rude, and value their own time above your own.
People use the property (stairwells, grounds, parking lots - everywhere) as their personal trash can. Sorry to say, but a lot of lower-income families inhabit the place, and it shows. I haven't used the elevator in years due to it being broken frequently, and smelling quite awful. Maybe it wouldn't be broken so often if perfectly healthy people weren't using it to go down one flight of stairs with nothing in their hands.
Security is a joke. I think the company they use has changed twice, and I hardly ever see anyone from security around. Certainly nobody was around when my car got broken into. People will be fishing around in the dumpsters looking for cans and what-not. They seem to be willing to tow anyone for the slightest grievance, but not when you actually want them to, like when someone else has parked in your "assigned" spot.
Parking used to be horrendous, and still isn't that great, though we manage to find a spot for our second car as long as it isn't too long after work hours. Good luck if you ever want to invite anyone over in the evening, though you might be too embarrassed to have anyone come over, as we were.
Roaches are a problem that comes and goes, and recently got so bad that they had to spray an entire building at one time.
Hot water is so hard to come by. They are turning off the water often to fix problems with it. Most of the time, if I want a hot shower, I also have to turn on the faucet in the sink, or turn on the bathroom sink to get hot water in the kitchen.
People violate the rules of the complex all of the time, and management seems to enforce the rules selectively. For instance, no visually distracting stuff on the balcony. Yet some people have their laundry hanging out to dry on it, etc. People let their children run wild around the halls and the complex with no apparent supervision. I've seen preschoolers wandering around with no adult or older child.
The workout facilities are a joke. The complex itself is in a constant state of repair. The apartments are poorly insulated, the fixtures are cheap, the carpet produced "fuzzies" for over two years. Maintenance is not very skilled - they often have to come back several times to properly fix a job. I can do better work as a hobby do-it-yourselfer than these people are paid to do.
People have a hard time finding the place because your apartment has an address either on McLaughlin or Lucretia, but you are actually on Summerside.
What would I recommend' Pay extra to live some place nicer. You really can't put a price on quality of life. Heck, just go across the street, it seems to be a lot nicer, and even the reviews on here seem to confirm that. Valley West, I believe. Just not Summerwind.
