Worst apartment I've ever lived in

This is easily the worst apartment I've ever seen. Sure, as one person mentioned earler, they put in nice new landscaping. What that person failed to mention is that they put a layer of manure down before they put down the sod. That left everyone smelling ---- for four days, IN AUGUST. That's right, the hottest part of the year, when everyone has to leave their windows open because they don't have A/C, you get stuck smelling ---- 24/7 for the better part of a week.
The security gate is a joke. It's left open all day so anyone who wants to can wander in. This usually includes people selling who knows what from little carts, complete with horns/bells/whistles so you know they're around, and homeless people who come in to sift through the dumpsters. Oh yes, the dumpsters!!! They get emptied about once a week. They're little small dumpsters that overflow with trash two or three days after they're emptied. Then they just continue to overflow until they get taken away.
Back to the "security gate". The first four months I lived here, it didn't even close.....someone knocked it down in the middle of the night! It took them four months to get it back in place and working. The covered parking area is poorly lit, if at all. My covered parking hasn't been lit in over six months, and none of the other carports near mine are lit either.
The walls and floors/ceilings are paper thin. You can hear everything that goes on in the apartments around yours. I can hear every step my upstairs neighbor takes, including when he jumps up and down at four in the morning.
When I moved in, my refrigerator had a funny smell. It turns out that it smelled because it didn't work. I'm talking milk going sour in two days...... It took a week to get a new refrigerator.
Every time my upstairs neighbor uses his garbage disposal, whatever he's getting rid of backs up into my kitchen sink.
I had problems almost immediately with my shower not working correctly. The water temperature would go from scalding hot to freezing cold at random. It took six months to get it fixed. When they finally did fix it, it took maintenance/the plumber four days to fix the problem. That's right, no shower for four days!
The laundry facilities are a joke. The washing machines work, for the most part, when they aren't shredding your clothes. The dryers, on the other hand, don't work at all. I just took a load of laundry out of the dryer that was still wet after three cycles in the dryer. I generally go to a laundromat to do my laundry, but sometimes it would be nice to be able to run upstairs and do a load of laundry without having to run the dryer three or four or five times.
Let's see.........what have I forgotten' There are two swimming pools here. One is a "family pool" and one is an "adult pool". Right. Both are swarming with kids when the weather is warm. Management says they don't know anything about an "adult pool", though it's on the map of the property, and they use the adult pool as one of the selling points of the property.
The mail service is horrible, and I know why! The complex's regular mailman is out on disability, and has been for the last two years. We get a series of temps, who make no attempt to get to know who lives here. I get mail from at least the last four tenants who used my box. I'm not saying they were bad people......I will say that the police came to my door two months ago with an arrest warrant for one of them.
That's my experience. Maybe I'm just very, very, very unlucky. Maybe I just expect too much for almost $1000 a month. Or maybe this place is just crap.
I moved here having never seen the apartment. I just wish I'd seen this site before I moved here..............
