After being here less than a month I need to leave. I have read some of the comments and they are pretty much the same for me.

I've had to deal with a broken dishwasher, plumbing problems and incomplete maintenance.

Could someone comment on how they were able to successfully break the lease'

unfortunately this complex prides itself on how well the can hide issues while your signing the dotted line. I have found that the only and I do mean the only way to get anything done is go into the Business office and stand your ground. Even if it means raising your voice. As it is the people in the office do not like to accomodate the residents as you can probably tell when you ask for a receipt for the rent that we all pay. Not sure if this will help but what I would do is right down what it is that you feel you were misguided on when you signed the lease, write down all the stuff that is wrong with your apartment, mention the security gate issue and all of the less than admirable amenities and let them know that you feel that you were lied too. I wouuldnt even bother with the Community Manager because all she will do is blow you off. Go directly to Spieker Companies send the a fax or email. The property managers name is Jill Parenti she works at the corporate office @1020 Corporation Way, #100 Palo Alto CA 94303. Her email address is jpatenti@spiekercompanies.com her office phone number is 650-968-2660 ext 119 and there fax number is 650-968-7601 Everytime I have had a problem I had to go physically into the leasing office and demand a date as to when things will get fixed. when that didnt happen I started calling the corporate office and, yes, even then I ahd to threaten not to pay my rent until things got taken care of. Try calling Jill and tell her dont ask her but tell her how unhappy you are and tell her you want out of your lease, start there and see what happens.
