After reading some of the other reviews, though I'd offer my 2 cents.
I've lived in this complex for about 4 years. Because of the cost
of housing, I have lived in an apartment situation my whole life.
Sure, this isn't a new complex, but it is cozy in a cabin kinda way.
It is located in a "wealthy mans" area of San Mateo, so you have
to brave the soccer moms at the local Safeway and the Mercedes/Lexus
crowd at the Chevron.
For the less fortunate, non-wealthy folks, this place is a GREAT deal.
(sounds like some of the other reviewers were snobs, expectling
perfection- probably putting up their kids here while owning
a couple mansions on the hill!)
People come and go just like any complex, the place is noisy with traffic
most mornings - you also get the ocassional garbage truck. The bright side
is you get the hills, wildlife, gardens and convienient gas and shopping.
The pool is nice and well maintained, but you have to catch it on off hours to have quiet time (i.e. kids)
The management has since changed, but they are attentitive and always respond
to your repair needs. If you want to shell out the cash, you can find some immaculate
new clone somewhere else. This place may be too middle class for some. Fine with me.
Overall, I give this place a 7 on a scale of one to ten- for value mostly.
