Facilities
-The facilities are OK at best. The gym locker room is dingy and was probably nice when it was built back in the 70s and is now run down. The gym itself lacks the amount of cardio equipment needed. Don't plan on using the 1 elliptical trainer without waiting. The TV is also in a spot such that if you choose to watch it while using the cardio equipment at any intensity you'll strain your neck or fall off the treadmill.
HOA is too controlling
-The main pool is nice, but don't plan to bringing any non-Woodlake guests with you on a nice day. The Woodlake patrol is on the prowl and will ask for ID and only allows two guest per unit. I definitely hope that anyone at Woodlake has more than 2 friends.
-Parking permits'! Woodlake requires you to use parking permits even though every unit has an assigned parking space and the outdoor parking is open to everyone. This handy Woodlake permit allowed a criminal to find where I lived and steal my car...but I digress.
-ASTOUND'! The Woodlake Nazis, er Board of Directors, engaged Woodlake in an exclusive cable agreement with Astound - even though this is PROHIBITED by FCC. Don't plan on getting service from any normal cable provider, they're not allowed. Astound or nothing (or bunny ears)
In summary, if you can find a smaller complex without the powerful HOA and pay for your own gym membership you'll be better off.

Quick notes:
If you have any suggestions on where the cardio equipment could be relocated to better serve the many, I'm sure staff would be open to hear it. If you are not aware, millions were recently spent on necessary upgrades throughout the complex and were of higher priority than the aesthetics of the locker room. If occupants brought more than the 2 guests allowed, the pool area would become a crowded nightmare; be grateful. Without the parking permits, patrol would not readily be able to determine if someone without your authorization was using the stall. When you come home to find someone parked in your space you'll understand the permits value. If someone took the time to search all lots to find your car, they most likely would have followed you home at some point anyway; I'm sorry for your loss. I digress. ASTOUND: No one likes when a decision is made for them. I recommend you invest some personal time and join the Board or at least attend meetings so your voice can be heard proactively rather than blogging anonymously reactively.

Missing Woodlake...
Based on your response, the parking permits allow security to determine if someone is parked in my spot. I'm sure (or I'd hope) that there is a different tracking mechanism that tells security who is entitled to what spot. I can easily spot a Woodlake car on the freeway and know exactly where they live. I see this as an invasion of privacy. Other parking permits are in the form of placards and are far less permanent.
Honestly, I could care less about the gym because I don't use it for the reasons stated above nor do I use the pool because I can't bring more than 2 people. My point is that anyone looking at living at Woodlake should be aware of the conditions and regulations since I'm sure that realtors use both the pool and gym facilities as huge selling points. Future renters and owners should be informed, which is why these websites exist.
