When we moved here back in 1999 this place was on its way to be one of the prime affordable spots for families to live in San Pedro. Along with a fresh face-lift that included exterior painting, landscaping and repaving, some of the apartments have a breath taking view of the outskirts of the L.A. Harbor. Needless to say that the apartments not so fortunate with a ocean view are only a half a block walk away from seeing it during the evening hours. I can remember the first July 4th standing in front of the empty lot on Baywater Ave and 29th watching both the Queen Mary s and Cabrillo Beach s fireworks displays. The streets fill-up with folks from all over the neighborhood.

But here's reality, you must take into consideration that these were once pre WWII officer quarters that needed much more maintaining than what was given to them throughout the many years to follow. Electrical wiring is a nightmare, as is the plumbing.

The parking situation is ridiculous, if you have a garage you cannot park on the grounds. The garages are not wide or long enough for most of today's p/ups and SUVs. Although, some residents take advantage and do both, this blocks garages for the one s who have them. On the street you either come home early enough to get a decent spot, or end up parking blocks away in some cases.

To make matters worse, Baywater Ave/29th Street has turned into a speedway/demolition derby. Over past several years numerous cars have been hit and ran on. Large trucks and loud Harleys zoom up and down the street setting off alarms, with no consideration for anybody.

As far as pets, there are too many cats and dogs with feces gathered at curbside and other areas on the property. Dogs aren't even allowed according to the contract, but you still see them and step in their poop.

When we first moved in, my wife's car was broken into, and my townhome was also a target of crime. Marine View did nothing to make us feel more secure after the fact, so its vamoose, Ariva Derchi, Astalavista baby!!!

I think the weather is what I will miss the most. It can be in the 90s in all other places, and only in the low 80s here due to the constant sea breeze, Goodbye S.P.

i completely agree with all the negative comments about marine view apartments...this is by far the worst place i have ever lived in all of california. the manager here is very very concerned with one thing it seems...money and how much she can make. any complaint regarding maintenance and up keep goes pretty much ignored or punished. i say punished because if you do complain, somehow the manager finds reasons to start knit picking you apart and leaving 3 day cure or quit notices on the front door in view of everyone so all the neighbors always know your business. another thing you notice about the management is how often their own places get fixed up while everyone else's places. especially the townhomes are falling apart literally. she even gave herself a screen door and her friends have dogs while other tenants are told they cannot have dogs. the only fixing management seems to do here is throwing yet another fresh coat of flat paint(looks more like cheap flat primer) on top of all the other dozens of flaked apart layers that fall in chunks from the ceilings. there are no views of anything other than a few port ship cranes and all the dog feces everywhere. the plumbing is just terrible(there has to be health code violations somewhere in there) the electrical problems are unbelievable..but you know what, im sure the manager is happy her place is up to par. DO NOT MOVE HERE EVEN WITH ANY DISCOUNT OFFERS ON RENT. they start hitting you up on all these fees from the city the first half of the year so your rent which is supposed to be rent controlled is always increasing a few dollars here and there. you get at least 2 increases on top of your yearly increase. parking is laughable at best. the garages they provide are infested with roaches and mice do to the overflow of inadequate dumpsters. the worst are all the new tenants moving in. all seem to be families with 6 to 8 ppl all in a 2 bedroom house or apartment. there is no privacy at all and you are very lucky if you ever get to use the laundry room. JUST DONT MOVE HERE
