Pricey and Average Craftsmanship, But Overall Very Nice

Location
The apartments are in a very good location; close to various marketplaces and to Bishop Ranch, a large business complex. San Francisco is about an hour away on the BART monorail. The surrounding town area is not very lush and can get pretty dusty and hot (very hot), but it's very quiet with hardly any riffraff. In terms of violent crime I would wager this is one of the safest areas in the county, and maybe even the state (since living costs are so high). I would definitely describe San Ramon as cozy and lovely.
Grounds
The grounds are well kept and there's some nice scenery like large lush ponds and water fountains, and some things to do like a couple pools, gyms, and play areas for kids. Residents are invited to occasional community parties with raffles and such; I won a small LCD TV at one of them. Parking, noise, and safety are all fine. Each apartment has a nice balcony. There are occasional bugs but nothing serious (harmless potato bugs and spiders). One cool thing is there are cute wild animals that hang around the surrounding area; turkeys, rabbits, hummingbirds, ducks, and foxes. You can even feed the turkeys.
Maintenance
Whenever I called, staff was friendly, helpful, and fairly responsive. One time my water stopped working so I called to have it fixed and they did within the day. Another time my toilet started to run so I called and it was fixed a couple days later. If you call when the offices are closed they give you an emergency number.
Problems
The apartment interior is probably my only real complaint. The one bedroom has ample room for a single person, and the layout is fine but the actual construction of things makes me question the owners calling these "luxury apartments". The kitchen and bathroom do not use ceramic so they easily pick up grime and stains, the appliances are very old (but do work), and the shower and toilet are lackluster.
The air quality is also questionable at times. It was very easy for me to have allergies, both seasonal and dust-related. I bought a small air purifier which seemed to have helped. I had to adjust the thermostat a lot because it would get cold at night and hot during the day; it seemed like the furnace and air conditioning had trouble figuring out how to maintain a constant 70 degrees.
Finally, while likely typical of the area, these apartments are quite expensive. You're really paying for the location more than the apartment, so don't expect anything amazing. With that said, I would recommend the apartments because they are charming, well kept, and safe.
I hope this review helps someone. Have a great day!
