My son moved into Harbor Heights the summer of last year. The management of the units are an elderly couple who really should not be running this facility. They accused him several times of shutting his door too loud (and in onecase woke him up at 2:00 in the morning by calling and banging on his door). Both times he was not the guilty party. Additionally, one of my son's friends was visiting him over the weekend and dropped my son off at work when leaving. His friend forgot his phone and back to the apt to pick it up. My son gave his friend a key to get in to his place. This was a 4pm. The management proceeded to verbally accoust his friend and then screamed at my son via a call to his work because they were alledgeadly awakend from a NAP because his friends music was too loud from his car in the parking lot. They told my son there were evicting him. The apt itslef was VERY dirty when we he moved in but we still paid the management the money. After 4 months of abuse and constantly being accused of doing things that he did not do my son gave his notice. BEWARE that the policy of these people is that they will NOT return your security deposit. This is not stated on the lease. You must get the money back from the person that moves in to your place. Since the lease is month to month, the management rerents if you move out. My son was out Nov. 15th and there was a new renter in the end of Nov. We started calling for the $875 then and were repeatably lied to about getting our security dep. back. After we threatened legal action these old folks finally gave us the info of the person who moved into my son's room and WE had to call this girl to get them money back from her. This was not until mid Jan of 08! my questions is, what happend to the $875 check we wrote to the managment' These people are VERY elderly, and is typical because of their age are very crabby, nasty and not with the program. There were several electrical outlets not working in my son's apt that needed to be fixed that never were, the hot water in the bathroom was scalding at times and was never fixed and the constant threats of eviction and harassment were unbelievable. My son has found an amazing place to live right down the street which is a lot cheaper and he can sleep easier at night knowing these crazy people are not there to harrass him. After reading many comments what I cannot believe is that these power hungry people continue to get awayw/abuse of these students it is deplorable! I hope that the owner or upper management of this complex read some of the reviews and fix this issue. On a closing note, part of why that might not be happening is because the elederly folks told us and many others that THEY own Harbor Heights which is NOT the case. Thank goodness I believe in KARMA !
