We lived there for one period of 4 months on a work term and then went back 8 months later. The place is expensive, but most places in the area are worse. The apartments are fairly large and have dishwashers (yay!). The pool is unheated, but we were down from Canada so we weren't going to complain. The grounds are nice, and I never felt anything other than safe. People were quiet. I never heard neighbors-- though the second time we lived there we faced the garbage area and once a week the garbage truck would be our alarm clock. Janice, the property manager, went out of her way to help us and the other people down on co-op. The person that said the staff was racist must have issues because everyone was always very polite to our non white friends. If we had to move back to Santa Clara we would probably go back to Greenpoint. It isn't perfect but it is pretty damn close.
