Nice and clean apartment but the manager was evil

Coming in from Canada, under the UW Co-op (internship) program, we were looking for a cheap, decent place to live. There were some good, and many bad.
Pros:
- Cheap, compared to the ones that we could find
- Clean, and practically no infestation. Although, a roommate saw a mouse once, but it never came back. There were some spiders, but they only bothered the arachophobes in our group.
- Maintenance was quick. We had issues with sinks, and appliances, but were fixed within a day or two.
- Willing to accept multiple checks (cheques) as payment.
Cons:
- Janice, our main contact, liked to increase the rent each time a different person from our group called for a quote. Started at about $1400, to $1700 and finally to $1900 (last one occurred when she mailed us the rental agreement)
- Charged ridiculous rug cleaning bill on move out.
- Noisy at times, but fault was only at the family living above us.
- Charged for petty problems, supposed "rent adjustments,"
All in all, nice and relatively clean place. At the time, cheap. However, be prepared to deal with Janice and her very quick-witted responses. You have been warned.
