Was a decent place - not anymore

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008

I moved out of Mansion grove in July 08. Before that I lived in mansion grove for 3 years. Here my experiences

pros:
- Nice and pretty clean place. Well, it turns out we rented just at the end of last major "renovations", early 2005. Construction was just over and place had got a minor do-over. Although the new construction means for next 2 years this is going to be a dirty place. If you are reading this in July 2010 or beyond, this might not be an issue.

- Nice parks and trails around the complex.

- Nice maintenance service. Maintenance guys at the complex are quite professional and helpful. Mind you I am talking about maintenance people not management.

- Decent openness and greenery. This I believe with 6 extra large buildings will be considerably reduced.

- Apartment amenities like gym and swimming pools. Although going ahead more people will be sharing the reduced amenities. They have closed the main pool temporarily and have removed one small pool.

Cons
- Management service. Management people are beauracrats, they not only stupidly apply rules but create unnecessary paperwork and hassles too. Examples, i wanted to get my assigned parking spot changed at the time of renewal. Nope that can not be done, a lame excuse that their system can not handle this. Give me a break. Another one, I have to pay 40$ extra for opening a late night automatic lock-up. The bill got two days later had the text: this amount needs to be paid in next 5 days otherwise they would start the delinquency process. For god's sake, I paid 1800 $ every month in rent on-time and I am not even late in paying this 40$ and they are already using such language. I can go on, but you get the idea that most of the staff personnels are pencil pushers and have no sense of how to deal sensibly and humanely. To be a little fair, most of the other apartment places also had such paper pushers but Mansion Grove was in a class of its own.

- Water has too much chlorine in it.

- Yes, break-ins did happen during my time at the complex. Although they were somewhat infrequent. I never felt unsafe at Mansion Grove.

- River mark area is nice and isolated from other places. This is nice as far as quietness and cleanliness goes but going out to eat, trader's joes, ethnic grocery etc was a pain. This is not a complain about mansion grove but the neighborhood itself.

As you can see I finally gave up on Mansion grove and moved on...
