Timberleaf Apartments
< Prev Review | >
Before we rented at this apartment, theft was a main concern of mine. I read the below reviews and saw that many had their cars broken into. however, the apartment were nice looking and the ast. manager (till this day, i have yet to meet the manager...not even sure how often she really works) assured me that the theft problem was in their history. Therefore, we went ahead and rented with Timberleaf.
About two months into are lease, I was informed that a residence's car was broken into from the parking. I was warned not to keep my navigation on my dashboard. From that day forward, I made sure that nothing of value was visable.
About 4 months after we signed our lease, my car was broken into. My window was broken ($230 to fix) and my navigation system, sirus sat. radio, cd player and clothes were taken. All of these items were NOT visable; therefore, my car should have not been a target.
That morning, I went to my car and saw what had happened. I had to go to work, so i cleaned the glass out of my car and left, leaving a giant mess of sharp glass that could hurt children or pets and pop tires. Eight hours later, that mess was still there.
I went to the Leasing office to report the incident and request a clean up. They had a temp working, who could not help me at all. I requested a copy of my Renter's Insurance policy and it took her a good 5 min to find the file. Then she took about another 5 minutes to locate the copy machine and then to figure out how to use it. The temp asked if the apartment building had a security patrol that drove thru at night. I said they did (but thought it was very odd that she didn't know this) and she said the patrol are paid to notice glass on the ground, thus the patrol was not doing there job. She said that she would follow up with them and have someone get back to me....that never happened. I also said that I wanted to speak to the ast. manager to just go over everything and requested he call me the next day....that never happened either. They did email my Roommate the next about the incident, but it was not my roommate's car, it was mine...so I was left confused about why they completed ignored my request and contacted someone who had nothing to do with the whole situation. In additon, I asked the temp to get the glass cleaned up because it was dangerous and it took over two hours for someone to come and clean it up (thus sitting out there for 10 hours).
Now I am trying to get payment from my Renter's Insurance for the stolen items and I am having problems, due to Timberleaf. We signed up from the Timberleaf sponsored insurance. The ast. manager filled out all the forms for us. When I called to report the break in, my insurance told me that I was not on the policy. I checked my copy of the policy and Timberleaf left off my name on the policy. So now I am not even sure if I can be reimbursed for the stolen goods.
Overall, this has been a horrible experience and I just want to warn everyone about this before they make any apt choices.
