Lying horrible management

when my boyfriend and i were trying to find a place to live for this school year, we saw cypress point, which looked beautiful. a big apartment complex seemed nice because usually they're very professional and have things taken care of. boy, do they look nice on the outside.

i will say one positive thing, and that's that the maitenence staff is REALLY nice, but extremely overworked. there's like two of them for all 500 or so units, and it's impossable for them to get things done. but when they can, they do it well. the management often also gives them work orders that are incorrect (they have come to our house several times for problems that didn't exist). but that's the management's fault, not the maitenence staff. they're awesome.

the apartments aren't bad, except for the constant water problems (i mean CONSTANT). the water temperature changes about every minute in the shower, they're always turning the water off for one reason or another (and for long periods of time, it was off for a whole weekend once), and things tend to leak. our old toilet broke one night, and we got an alarming knock on our door at 4:30 in the morning because it had been leaking for 5 hours while we were sleeping (our entire hallway and bathroom were flooded two inches). After they finally cleaned that up, they kept checking for mold, though some still grew. For three days we couldn't use our toilet and they left their work tools in our bathtub (which scratched up the enamel and i'm sure WE'LL be charged for it). They came and went as they pleased, sometimes without knocking when we were there (as we gave them permission to enter for emergencies if we weren't there).

Other than that, the apartments were nice, but not worth the price for that small of a place. the worst part is the management. they tour you around when you're looking at the place, breeze you by the lagoon so you don't get bitten by the swarming mosquitos, show you the gym but not long enough for you to notice the machines that are dangerously falling apart, show you the rec room from the door, not long enough for you to notice that the pool table has only one cue and two balls are missing. You will be informed that you can choose from a variety of different kinds of leases: 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months. this is FALSE. when you are ready to sign the papers and write the checks they inform you that they "ran out" of the shorter leases, and stick you with a long one. I noticed that someone else had a problem with ridiculously high check problem fees ($75 fee for a $25 check), and we were treated extremely rudely though the funding problem was a bank error. Also, five days before we moved in, we got a call saying that our application was no longer valid and that we did not meet the requirements to live there and needed a co-signer (though we already signed the papers and paid them their money). what had happeend is a switch occoured in how they evaluate how much money you have to make to live there (when we signed up, they had just started allowing the income to be based on two people combined instead of each person needing to meet a certian income) and there was extremely poor communication among the staff. when we drove from santa clara to try to clear it up, Ginger said "i'm not going to take the blame for this one" (completely unprofessional). that eventually got cleared up, but since my mom manages apartments i'm lucky because she knows the ropes. othewise i would have been out on my own with noplace to live.

if you are even thinking about living here, just don't. it's completely unprofessional, decieving and i haven't heard of anyone who wants to stay past their lease (and know of plenty of people trying to get out of their lease). you can find someplace better, you're worth it!!! :)
