EVER GET THAT SINKING FEELING' From: DonahueDave Date posted: 12/16/2007 Years at this apartment: 1997 - 2007   A SPECIAL REFLECTION ON A 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Well, the property which is only about 12 years old was poorly constructed and is literally sinking. A MAJOR, several month long construction period is now coming to a close. Major retrofit of most exteriors of buildings and foundations. Exterior paint and parking lot redone. Was very loud, noisy and unattractive during reconstruction and only a 10% discount on rent was given for all of the construction inconvenience. Very short or too short notice is given during inspection of unit or need to move vehicles, etc... On one occasion a less than 24 hour notice was given to move vehicles and I was out of town. On another all balcony items had to be moved in 24 hours. Poor cross ventilation in units could create a mold problem. Dining room windows should be able to open for cross ventilation but do not. Overall design of units are cool, spacious and utility room / laundry room in unit is a great bonus. Bring back the landscaping and trees!!! Then theres the neighborhood, which generally gets a bad rap, but really isn't all too bad. Aside from the occasional drug dealers, break ins, vandalism, etc..., Marin City is actually a close knit community which I am proud to call home. Seriously! It is a multicultural vibrant community with loads of churches and friendly folk. Varied socio economics, religious communities and faiths, and cultures make it a vibrant and interesting community. On the most part residents here are respectful of one anothers differences. The long time residents know one another and look out for one another. The occasional shootings are usually in the projects adjacent to the complex and not actually on the grounds here. You may here the gunshots, but seldom the screams. ...and the sheriffs are always around, so one feels safe. Very close to public transportation, across the street. Very convenient if your car goes missing in the middle of the night, or tires get slashed. Oh ... and forget about food delivery. After several muggings of Domino's Pizza Delivery workers in Marin City, they, as well as most other restaurants in Marin, WILL NOT deliver to the hood.
