I like it here

It makes me sad to hear all the negative comments about this apartment complex and especially about the manager, Sandy. She has kept a special eye out for me while my husband has been deployed and helps me out personally whenever I ask her for a favor like watering my plants when I go out of town for a few days. She always says hi and whenever I have a problem that needs attention, she always makes sure that it's taken care of right away. She keeps the grounds looking nice and makes sure that the premises is safe by keeping surveilance. She does a really good job and I really like it here.
As for the apartment itself, for a one bedroom, we have plenty of space for the two of us. Most other one bedrooms I've heard of are pretty small. Oh, the closet in the bedroom spans the entire wall. It's great for someone like me with a ton of clothes and shoes. The price was another thing that we liked about this place. Everything in this area is overpriced in my opinion, but I come from up north where rent is less expensive. We pay $995 a month for a downstairs apartment. I believe upstairs is a bit less and the multi-bedroom ones are a little more but is totally worth it. We're even hoping to upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment soon just in case we expand our family in the future. For an extra bedroom and bathroom plus a dishwasher, it's only another $200 a month so I think that's a really good deal.
This complex is great for anyone, whether it be a single person, couples, or families. There are 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments and the downstairs ones all have their own private patio which I love because I have lots of room for my plants and a bbq. The upstairs ones have a bit less space but still enough, I've seen bbq's upstairs too.
The feel of this complex is very nice, everyone says hi to each other. There's the pool which is awesome in summer, too. My husband has actually recommended this place to a lot of the sailors on his ship that will be new to the area. We didn't apply to any other apartment complex in the area when we moved here. I came from out of town and he came from the barracks although one of our friends has lived here for awhile now. So he had spent a lot of time over here and liked it so much that when I moved down we didn't feel the need to look anywhere else. One thing my husband really loved was that it is gated so he likes knowing that when he's gone I'm safe.
It's a nice neighborhood and everything's so close. I'm not huge on walking but Albertson's is right there as is Starbucks, Fresh Choice, pizza, salons and an amazing Greek restaurant. So it's worth saving that tiny bit of gas and getting a little bit of exercise. We're far enough away from downtown SD to not have to deal with the crazy traffic but close enough that we don't feel that we're in the middle of nowhere. I lived in the country before so this is a happy-medium for me.
We don't have 2 cars so parking isn't an issue for us. For those who do have 2 cars there is usually plenty of parking on the street and I haven't heard of anyone having problems leaving their car on the street. Noise isn't an issue at night. I mean, sometimes you can hear a dog or a baby but that's normal for any complex. Since I've been here there has been no partying or obnoxious tennants, which is very nice. There is a laundry room that is open 24/7 and you don't have to use quarters, it's a card that you load money onto. There are several washers and dryers so as long as everyone in the entire complex doesn't decide to do their laundry at the same time, it's just fine.
I've already mentioned safety and the look of the grounds and the staff. I want to add that the guys that do maintenance here are amazing. They are even willing to help with stuff that isn't related to the apartment itself. I needed help carrying something really heavy and they completely took care of it for me. That was a huge help since I'm here by myself for now.
My advice, don't pay any attention to the negative posts from before. They're old and don't apply anymore. This is a really good place to live. I just wish everyone saw that! Maybe you will, potential future tennants reading this.
