Yo!

So far so good

I moved in here almost 6 months ago in the winter of 2008. It's a huge complex so you are going to hear lots of conflicting stories and some bad experiences. Mine happens to be "so far so good". They installed carports in 2007 I guess. Parking is not assigned but I've always found a parking space close-by at this corner of the complex. After I moved in they installed dual pane windows and then painted the exterior of all the buildings. Buildings are 4 plexes . There are many of them and they painted each one a different color ... well, there are 5 colors so it repeats a lot, but it's looking really nice. The groundskeeping and mature trees make the place look really nice too. I took a ground floor unit with a northern exposure so I don't need the A/C on a lot. Of course it sounds like a through-the-wall A/C but it works well. I'm lucky with my neighbors so far...no boom boxes in my building. That's about all I can say about neighbors. I haven't found any roaches etc. so I guess I'm lucky there too. I moved in "sight unseen" and it was okay except for a water bubble in the bathroom wall ...coming from upstairs shower. They fixed it. Otherwise I haven't had any experience with the staff. I got a really good price by signing a one year lease and lasting out the year doesn't look like it will be a problem. My only "complaint" is that I just received a bill today from "Conservice billing company" for water, sewer, trash, and water heating for one month. It was a total surprise as I wasn't told this when I rented the apt. It's for $37. I asked in the office "what's this'" and they said that I was somehow missed before, and that all tenants receive such bills. Ouch, but that still only brings my rent to $662 plus the PG&E bill of $41. for a total of $703 this month, plus phone, TV, and internet connections. I've seen people in the lap pool and the workout room but not used them myself. I haven't seen any break ins in the mail room yet or in the parking lots. The laundry rooms are never crowded and are close by. I'll probably be okay here unless someone moves in next door with a boom box. There are lots of Latinos here and if their music doesn't include that heavy bass that goes right through the walls, then I'm going to look for Latinos whenever I rent an apt.
