Arbor Terrace

This place is horrible for the price!

We moved in 1 year ago and signed a 1 year lease knowing that Arbor had just initiated a major rent increase just months before we moved in so didn't think it would go up too much when our lease expired, but it did...read on.... We knew we were paying too much when we moved in, but knowing the rental market was tight and that the rents were inflated due to the housing crash and being the sort that hates the process of finding an apartment(until I found this site. too bad we didn't know about apartmentratings.com before we signed!)just read all the negative reviews! Anyway, we hastily signed the lease and moved in. The lease said we would pay WATER, SEWER, GARBAGE AND (RENTERS INSURANCE MANDATORY!)When the manager was asked how much this might cost? She shruged' and said "not very much." It added up to approximately an additional $100 per month which of course doesn't include the base utilities.

The only two problems we complained about over the year were not taken care of, and there are many problems we didn't complain about.

There are windows only on 1 side of these units so no cross ventilation. The bathrooms have no windows at all just a noisy exhaust fan. It's a sweat box in the summer!Paper thin walls and windows.

But now this just takes the cake! Notified that as our lease is up and to renew our increase will be from $1600 plus$ to $1700 plus$ dollars, and if we don't sign it for another 1 year lease, will be $2200 plus$ on a month to month basis.

I do understand inflation, and that the market will charge what it can get, however, this scheme should have been disclosed in our original lease. Telling a 1 year resident that rents will be increased upon signing of a new 1 year lease or else face a 40% increase in rent amounts to a questionably legal form of extortion.

We will be moving!

I could really just go on and on about why this place is no good, but I think you've got the idea. I will never rent from any apartment from equityapartments.com The equity is all theirs.
