I've been here since April 2004. I chose this place because it is a gated community, the place looks like something out of Architectural Digest, it's quiet, they have a T1 line provider, a beautiful big swimming pool, sauna/steam bath/spa, a great gym - this is like a 5-star hotel.

I've had some frustrations though - the washer was messed up and wet the carpets twice - but Avalon fixed it by replacing the washer.

I had ants in my apartment - but that happens at all apartments in California - every single place I have lived in the Bay Area these past 4 years: same at Beach Cove in Foster City, same at Avalon Sunnyvale, same at a rental house in Fremont. They got the exterminators to come twice - after the 2nd time the ants disappeared for good.

There as this one time that the piping system got overflooded due to upstairs folk pushing potato peels down the drainage system and flooded my kitchen. Avalon staff cleaned the kitchen for me. Yes, that was a bit overwhelming when I returned from vacation, but the staff sent a nasty letter to the folk upstairs and offered to move me to the 3rd floor from the 1st floor (for FREE since it costs much more with each additional floor). I said that was okay but I may consider it later - the offer is still open to me.

So - as you can see - I've had issues, but I love the place - the people who live here are like me - smart, educated, make good money - the place is _really_ nice and they make a great effort. Plus, they have free yoga classes.
