I've lived here for a little over a year and have seen the management change over sometime last year. Since the change, I've found that the community is actually CLEANER than before. When I renewed my lease recently, my rate went up a little, but I moved in on a special and it was to be expected. I signed a 12 month lease and I'm getting my carpets shampooed for free. When I call in for a work request on my apartment, it is usually done that day. When I'm not home when a package is delivered, the office signs for it. I don't know what everyone is complaining about-I think there are a lot of too-high expectations. This is an apartment complex! It is not a country club.

Also, in reading the last several posts (obviously written by the same person; seriously, can't they do something about that') claiming that the community manager is prejudiced, it is laughable. I think the commmunity manager is the only person in that whole office that is white! Lady, I don't know who you pissed off, but it's obvious you pissed off someone. It's sad because I think this could be a valuable forum for research and honesty and it's a shame when all that gets thrown out the window because some vindictive person has too much time on their hands.

Bottom line:
*you can get a cheaper apartment somewhere else, but they'll jack up your rent when you release your apartment in a year's time. That's what they all do. If you are getting in when it's cheap, when it's time to re-up your lease, you're going to get the shaft.

*The pool here is nice and anytime I've used it, it's been clean. I don't use the sauna, so I don't know if it's clean or not. My suggestion would be to get off your computer and go look at it yourself. DOn't let one person's bitter online battle with the complex PREJUDICE you!

*Ask yourself what is really important. HOw much interaction do you really have with the apartment manager or staff'

*I like the size of the rooms in my floorplan. I looked at several other properties and the bedroom sizes were all really small. I also like my big closet in my bedroom.

*There have been some car breakins. I had my CDs stolen out of my car while parked in the underneath garage. I got my glass fixed and two weeks later when I was shopping at the Stanford mall, someone broke the SAME window out and took my jacket. Crime can happen anywhere. If you don't leave crap in your car, you probably won't get it broken into, regardless of where you live/shop/work. I will remark that this year the complex has responded to the breakins. They added cameras and did some other stuff. See how much I pay attention'

*The trash chutes are kind of smelly, but if people weren't so lazy, it probably wouldn't be so bad. If the trash chute is full, which it can sometimes be on the weekends, instead of walking their trash to the big trash bin out back or walking it downstairs to the trash room, they just leave it on the ground. Really... people are pigs. I wish the Avalon would get and extra bin for the trash rooms for the weekends.

For the money I pay, I think it's fair when you consider the location, the size of the apartment plans and the fact that you have a huge gym and two pools.
