We have lived here for five years and just bought a house. We will miss this apartment community a lot. We got our final statemnt for our security deposti back and considering everything, are pleased with how much we're getting back. My neighbor moved out several months ago and we saw their apartment when they moved-they were upset that they didnt get much back, but I'm not surprised. They didn't do much to clean it when they moved out and thier carpet was thrashed and rather filthy. It seems like if you make a decent effort to clean it and keep it relatively clean while you live there, you will be fine. My only complaints really are the parking and the office staff turnover. The parking: My husband and I have two cars and if we go out at night and come home late, we couldn't always find a space to park near our apartment. There was always a place in the back of the property, so that's good, but sometimes it was a drag to walk. The staff: In the time I've been here there have been at least three managers. The newest one is great and I hope they can hang on to her. I don't know if the company doesn't pay good or what, but the others didn't seem interested in the job and left pretty quickly after they got here. The current manager is fair and honest and seems to really care about the tenants. We had an issue with our neighbor a few months ago and she took care of it quickly and without much trouble. She sent a follow up note to check on things later, which nearly knocked me out of my chair when I got it. She also has managed to get rid of the one staff member that always seemd to be a liability, so kudos to her for that too. The maintenance staff is great. If you have a problem, they fix it and they fix it quick. In reading some of the reviews posted here, I wonder what they did to their apartment to keep from getting their deposit. I think is a good idea for a forum, but wonder the truth in all of it. It seems that only the really pissed off people post and usually, in my experience, the really pissed off people usually do something to be treated like they've been treated. Just my two cents.
Over all, I loved living at Avalon Parkside and will miss the friends we've made. That's another great thing... the sense of community is outstanding.
