I had a terrible experience at the Bali Hai, Sunnyvale (1158 sunnyvale-saratoga road), and according to my neighbors, they all had similar experiences. I recommend you stay AWAY from this place, as the management is just a bunch of common criminals.

My story' Not to different from my neighbors. I saw this posting on craigslist, went to check it out. The manager showed me unit #34, saying the tenant is moving out at the end of the month. A week later, I try to start cable internet service on it to get it ready - but guess what' Service was already started there a month ago. I call back, and find out this person "cancelled" her 30 day notice. They offer me apartment #12, which supposedly has tenants who are moving out by 9/1, which I check out. Not as nice, but I'm now in a bind, so I take it.

A day before my move on 9/1, I go there to pick up the keys for #12. I see that the tenants of #12 have not yet moved out. After arguing, they finally give me apartment #27. I move in, and find it to be infested with roaches, half the light switches work, the power goes out every other night, and the cabinets aren't caulked.

I left on a business trip to Taiwan after I moved in. From overseas, I cancelled my first month's rent check, and told management that once they do something about the roaches, fix my switches, caulk the cabinets, etc, then I would write them a new check. They seemed satisfied.

So, I come home from a 12 hour flight, to find that my locks had been changed! It was the worst feeling in the world. Luckily, I was able to get in through the window, and move all my stuff out to a friend's that same night.

This place is dirty, smelly, has jobless section 8 neighbors lounging around, and is run by crooks and thieves. Guess who I saw on the last day I was there (9/23)' The tenants of #12, ambling around not working. They had never intended to move out, and both them and the management knew it. I talked to my 2 other neighbors, who had the *same* stunt pulled on them - #12 was to be theirs, and they got shoved in a crappier apartment at the last minute because #12 hadn't moved out in time.

On top of which, this place is *disgusting*, and it is filthy. There is a weird smell, sort of like rotting bodies, emanating in the hallways. When I moved into #27, I found dead bugs and roaches littering the corners of the walls, ceilings, and the bottoms of kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I regularly saw 3-5 roaches throughout the day (and if you see them in the daytime.... very very very bad sign). One of the german roaches was about 1.5 inches long, which means this place has been infested for much longer than an year or two.

What makes me even angier, is that they can't even provide me (a young professional with a stable job and no income problems) with a half functioning, sanitary and habitable place. Yet, they continue posting up these ads on craigslist.

Save yourself the headache. I am still hurting from these crooks, and I hope I can save you the trouble.

Please spread the word! "Twin Pines Manor" is also run by the same people, so avoid that place as well.
