I say that the managers are literally thieves because they stole a shipment I received from UPS - signed for it, then denied having it!

The apartment itself was wonderful - nice layout, the best view (the river), nice pool and workout area. We had a good amount of space and even though we were on the first floor, things were generally quiet. We had a few problems with the fixtures, but they were repaired quickly and adequately.

Towards the end of 2004, though, due to the declining rental market, they began to let some shady characters rent. I think there were at least a dozen people living in one one-bedroom apartment! This was more the exception rather than the norm.

The management, though, was horrible. Besides the theft of our delivery, we couldn't get them to tow an abandoned car that was left in our one assigned space. They were supposed to be there from 9-5, but they were rarely in before 10, took at least a two hour lunch, and couldn't be found after 4pm. The maintenance people, though, often started working at 8am, and had no problem with making as much noise as they liked. When we went to renew our lease, despite the dot-com crash, lower apartment prices thorughout the Bay area, and empty apartments in the complex, they wanted to raise our rent by over $100!

Watch out for the security deposit! They totally tried to scam us for $700! They had one charge to clean the carpet, then another charge to replace it. This double billing was ridiculous. Then a charge to paint - I lived there for 2 years, there was the usual wear and tear, I have -never- had a place charge me for painting. This is routine, the apartment is painted for the next tennant.

This place would be -perfect- if the management could just hire the right people.
