Terrible experience

Years at this apartment: 1997 - 2001

I lived here for several years, and it was awful. When I told friends where I lived, they often laughed and said something like "They never do repairs, do they'"

The plumbing and electrical system both failed regularly. Once every couple of months, there would be no hot water, or occasionally no water at all - even after the massive plumbing project they did. The electricity went out once every month or two. (To be fair, there were some blackouts in Silicon Valley during this period, but there were a number of power failures at this apartment complex that were not related to local power shortages.)

There is no air conditioning. There is baseboard heat, but I was always cold in the winter.

I lived in a very buggy building: there were lots of spiders and insects. If this bothers you, you might want to consider another location. There was also a minor problem with squirrels getting into the apartments. It sounds funny, but they can create quite a mess - and cause a lot more noise and excitement than you would expect.

I know this is hard to believe, but on a number of occasions, there was broken glass outside my building - and children playing on the sidewalk a few feet away.

Noise: I was frequently awoken by my neighbor snoring on the other side of our shared bedroom wall! I could hear every cupboard door closing in my neighbor's apartments, every toilet flush, and every footfall on the stairway. My neighbors told me they could hear the same things from my apartment, as well as other neighboring apartments.

Was there anything good' Laundry facilities were okay, and the location is good if you work in high tech. It has good access to several freeways. It was cheaper than a lot of the surrouding rental properties. It is close to several schools (elementary through community college).
People seemed to enjoy the pool and hot tub (I never used them, so I have no opinion).

Overall, I was very glad to leave, though.
