Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I am writing this review for my past tenancy here in 2006-2007...better late than never.
I remember when I first was given a tour, I thought this place was soooo nice. The swimming pool, jacuzzi, the fitness center with sauna, the tennis courts made it look really great. So I moved in with my significant other.
After a year of living there, we immediately moved out because we hated living here. The corridors always smelled of curry and the noisy children would play in the hallways for an hour or so in the evenings. I lived on the first floor. The 2nd and 3rd floor smelled of other things--better than curry, though. The walls are thin enough that you can hear your neighbors tv (and bass from their tv). In fact, I used to get so sick and tired of knocking on their doors (my neighbors would never open their doors, but they would speak to you through their doors--how stupid is that'!) that I actually wrote a letter of complaint to management about my neighbors noise level and threatened to file a complaint with a lawyer if management didn't enforce the 10pm noise curfew to said neighbor. Sometimes, too, on Saturday at 9am in the morning, you can hear someone blasting their damn bollywood show *really, really, really* loud (like, as loud as a car's honking). WTF'! But management wouldn't do anything because, according to them, "if it's not curfew time, we can't do anything"
So it was the neighbors, the thin walls, the myraid stay-at-home mothers at this place, and also the grimy carpeting that I hated.
Did I tell you that the carpeting is god awful. It always felt that it had chemical residues on them while walking barefeet on it. This complex doesn't replace their carpeting until several years worth of use. I even specifically asked before I moved in if they could change the carpeting because it had disgusting pet-pee/poop stains on them and all management said was that they couldn't and that it looked in really good condition than other units. um...yeah right...
*IMPORTANT* Don't bother to clean your apt when you move out, cause they'll charge a cleaning fee no matter what. I was so mad that they did that. I fully cleaned the damn apt and was still charged $1XX for "light cleaning"--yeah, light cleaning like re-vacuuming the already vacuumed carpet. I did all the work and was still charged for "professional cleaning" -- Fair Oaks West is a rip off!
