Overpriced, older buildings

As with most silicon valley apartments, this one is horrifically overpriced. I currently pay 1250 a month for a 400 sq ft studio on the second floor. At one point they were trying to charge $1600 for this size apartment! In the last month that has gone down to around 1500 with a move in bonus. Don?t bite. There?s numerous vacancies here, and if the slowdown continues, the prices will have to fall even more.
Appliances are old and the building is at least 30 years old. My air conditioner doesn?t work and the sink leaks. I will give them high marks for maintenance, though, as everything I?ve asked them to fix they?ve fixed within a week (although they needed prodding). There?s just so much to fix!
BEWARE: only some apartments come with dishwashers. Mine didn?t and they told me it would. They wouldn?t let me look at the apartment until after I moved in, and that?s when I discovered there was no dishwasher. The manager said it was "too bad". I don?t believe any of the studios come with a dishwasher.
Pleasant neighborhood, close walking distance to supermarket and very nice community center. Tops for location--my commute in the Silicon Valley is ten minutes.
As for person below who complained about the children, that's just --------. There's a couple of tenants here who have been harassing the children and I believe that may have been posted by one of them. I've never noticed any problems with the kids--we are in a community, you know, not a private club--and in fact would rate them as very well behaved. There's only seven or eight kids in the ENTIRE complex and they rarely play unsupervised. In fact, they all seem to have stay at home moms.
If you don't like kids, move to Vatican City. I hear it's real peaceful.
