Be Warned.

Im a current resident who moved here mid 2007. I got one of the remodelled studios for more than $1100 a month, which is a ripoff considering this place is absolutely terrible.
The Bad:
1. Rude management. Some of you think this may not matter, but believe me, it does.
The management seem to think of tenants purely in expoitative terms.
2. The layout. This place is open on all sides. You can walk in from just about anywhere, including the Albertsons next door. There's no sense of privacy or residence. Unfortunately, my studio's on the ground floor, so if I keep the blinds open, I feel like a goldfish in a bowl.
3. Crime. Because of the open layout and lack of any kind of security, a LOT of cars were broken into, and a couple were stolen.
4. Noise: I've lived in other apartments before, but this is ridiculous. I can hear every thing my next door neighbors say. The guy living above me listens to music at a reasonable volume (not loud at all), but because of the cheap construction, there's virtually no sound insulation. And two mornings a week, you have to deal with the very very very loud leaf blowers for about 40 minutes.
5. Heating: You should see the heater in this place. It's a joke. For it to make ANY difference, you have to sit right next to it. And the heat insulation in the construction is completely non-existent.
6. The plumbing. Any time you start a faucet, the water runs brown from the rust for at least 20 seconds.
7. The continuous construction: Major reonstruction has been happening for the last 3 months, and shows no signs of stopping. They start hammering on your walls at 8 a.m. every day, Mon-Sat. And the construction crews theyve hired must be the cheapest out there, because they have absolutely no regard for the residents. They're outside my door as I speak being raucous, screaming at each other, and laughing really, really, loud. Any other apartment management would be monitoring the situation to ensure this didnt happen.
8. And finally, the lease contract. You should read this thing. They just about own your ---.
Ive learned my lesson the hard way, but if you know what's good for you, you'll take my advice and stay clear. I can't wait for my lease to run out so I can move. Of course, they'll probably rob me blind on the deposit, but at least I'd be out of here.

I have to agree with all of this. This is why I moved out.
I'd advice you to get out of this place.

I would agree with this statement ... I kid you not, I literally signed fewer papers when I "bought" my house in Chicago than when I moved into "The Montclaire" If I remember counting right, and I'm sure the front staff will be sure to correct me, but I remember at least over 30 legal size sheets of paper I either had to sign or initial to sign my lease, and it probably was more than that, but I am trying to be nice to the front office staff.
