Nice Apartments, Bad Location- AVOID ROOMS NEAR STREET!

I have been living at Remington Place for over a year now. Overall, it is a nice place to live, despite it is pricey ($825+ for a studio). Rooms are large and very clean with only occasional insect problems (mainly ants, but NO cockroaches). The complex is nice with good laundry facility, small pool, sauna rooms, and lush vegetation that is well maintained.

The best part about living at Remington Place is that the interior of building (hallways) look like a fancy hotel- compared to the crappy motel style complexes...and there is even an elevator! In addition, you need a key to get into the building, which makes the complex feel safe. Lastly, staff members are extremely helpful and friendly if you make an effort to get to know them. Now I will move on the problems.

The reason I am considering leaving is because of the noise. Although the apartment is easily accessable to el camino (101) and sunnyvale-saratoga (280), there is a MASSIVE amount of noise coming from cars traveling past the apartments- even late at night. The windows and walls are thin and you can easily hear the slightest of noises (especially when your neighbor is using the bathroom---I always hear my neighbor urinating in the toilet. That is how bad the noise is. My advise you to is DO NOT GET AN APARTMENT CLOSE TO REMINGTON DRIVE. If you do, you are guaranteed to suffer each night...you won't be able to watch tv, read a book, sleep, etc...without hearing a car pass by. The building close to fremont street isn't much better.

Also, the people living here aren't the nicest- and are downright unfriendly. Keep in mind that 75% of the residents are indian and chinese. They make tons on noise in their apartments late at night and cook terrible smelling food that stays in the hallways for days.

Anyway, beware of ants in your apartment, because I heard that some apartments are infested by them (especially ones on first floor). I rarely see any insects in my apartment. The last thing I will mention is parking. The complex doesn't have much spaces, but you do get one assigned space. Unfortunately, there is a good chance that a visitor may park in your spot- and you have to go through the trouble of calling the towing company.

Overall, Remington Place is a good place to live, but noise (and possible ant) problems may be the only potential reason to prevent you from living there. Make sure you inspect the room carefully before signing the lease.
