Stop a Minute and Read for an Honest Review from a Resident

This place is beautiful. The maintenance is superb, timely, polite, and extremely helpful. I don't even have to sweep my own porch. The stream, waterfalls and fountains, and the ducks make this place wonderful for people who like to go for peaceful walks. The pool is large and deep, and is always very tidy. The hot tub is also always clean and seats 12. The clubhouse is cozy and cheap to rent, and it's open until MIDNIGHT. Very convenient for parties!

We've had problems with broken dishwashers, and one time our neighbors' house flooded and it got into our place too, but the maintenance immediately sent a cleaning crew and they even changed out an old lightbulb in the bathroom and mopped my kitchen floor after my own muddy feet while they were here. We have broken things ourselves and the maintenance fixes everything no questions asked, even when it is obviously our fault.

The management is cool at best, especially one manager in particular, and we try not to have to deal with them.

The 1 bedroom apt we have is very big, and there is plenty of space for a king sized bed, a computer table and chair, a dresser, and a couch in the bedroom. The living room is large enough to accomidate all of our furniture plus our dining room set, and we use our dining room as an office.

The bathroom is plenty large enough for two people to use at once in the busy morning time.

Parking is a real ----- if you have more than one vehicle or guests. The nieghborhood seems pretty quiet and safe if not posh. I don't feel uncomfortable walking alone at night from a block or so away. The person who said you have to park three blocks away from home is really exaggerating.

Ample laundry facilities and workout rooms are scattered around the complex. We find it very convenient. The laundry facilities are kept very clean and the washign machiens are sanitized. There is even another pool for the part of the complex that goes across the street. I haven't been there so I can't tell you if it is clean or not.

Cats are allowed and it is really a pet lover's paradise. Lots of trees to climb and foliage to explore. It's like a little jungle with a winding river in the well kept back grounds. We have two cats and they are very happy.

Shadowbrook has all the same drawbacks as every other apartment. You can hear your neighbors at times, and rest assured if you get loud they can hear you too. Parking stinks, but parking always stinks when you can't afford a home with your own driveway. Oftentimes you can rent a parking space from another resident for around $40 a month if you find you need it. We have two vehicles and our next door neighbors have three vehicles, and we all get along just fine. The management is bleh but they are not rude. I would rate them AVERAGE. The other residents are not particularly friendly, but I come from Texas where everybody likes to say howdy so I might not be a good judge of Californians. There are a lot of people here from other nations and maybe they don't share neighborly customs either. Either way, we are not bothered by loud parties or people taking our parking space etc.

We will continue to rent here until we have enough money for our own home. The draw for us is the beautiful landscaping, including the well tended pools, and the space. The neighborhood around the complex is not great but it certainly is NOT a ghetto. The streets are safe at night, there are a lot of children, and lawns are kept well cared for. We could not find another place as nice as this for the price in this area.
