good place, but be prepared to lose your deposit

overall, i really liked living at shadowbrook - my apartment was an *amazing* deal for the price (2br/2ba w/fireplace, vaulted ceiling & balcony for $1395'!), i thought the grounds were *beautiful*, never felt unsafe, etc. etc. the maintenance staff is also great - i could submit a fix-it request online, and they usually had things fixed by the time i got home from work.
but, a few things to keep in mind:
-NO utilities are included in the rent - not even water/sewage. expect that to add to your rent by quite a bit.
-expect to have your rent hiked by at least $100 when your lease expires - so i would only move in here if you have no problem leaving at the end of your lease term
-the management is definitely distant and very difficult to work with (and clearly is posting fake tenant reviews here, which is really shady). we were extremely careful tenants, and we ended up losing most of our deposit due to "standard cleaning charges" (even though we spent easily 25 hours cleaning the apartment from top to bottom after a six-month lease and responded to every item on the pre-moveout checklist). definitely a scam.
-make sure you keep copies of all your leasing documentation - i heard horror stories of the management "losing" files
in short, so long as you are prepared to lose a good chunk of your deposit as the price for living here (which we were, having read these reviews beforehand), i would definitely recommend living at shadowbrook. it's a great deal so long as you go into it with your eyes open.
