How funny. I just read your post. I also agree that Karen is likely racist, in addition to being rude and lacking common social skills. But I actually think that she just has some sort of mental disorder which is why she has horrible memory and often acts inappropriately. Suffice to say, dealing w/Karen is an expereince I'd never wish upon anyone. Although we did end up moving in (and moving out at the end of our lease 6 mo. later), we had to fight to get our deposit back (after spending $90 getting the carpet professionally cleaned). We waited 3 weeks for it then we sent a letter asking for the deposit back. It wasn't until we threatened to sue for our deposit did we get a phone call from ANOTHER person (not Karen) asking whether we received the amount, which we finally did.

As for the quality of the premises - the 1br is more like a junior 1-bedroom. The 2brs is sized more like a 1br. It's ok-priced, but the living spaces are extremely cramped, small and dark. There were spiders all over our ground floor apt. There are washer/dryers in the apartments. However, our washer broke and flooded the apartment. Fortunately we were home because the washer just kept overflowing, and everything would have been damaged had we not been there to turn the water off. The washer was fixed quickly though. However, it's a safe neighborhood, parking was all right and the location is excellent. I would keep looking for a different place, however, if I were you.
