Willow Bend is a good place to live at a reasonable price. As a current resident, here are some of my experiences:
THE GOOD
- apartment was very clean when I moved in
- perfect size for a 1 bedroom
- everything works in the apt.
- recently painted and carpeted
- close to everything in the South Bay
- concrete walls keep rooms quiet
- good insulation keeps rooms are cool in summer, warm in winter
- new office staff is very nice
- handy storage closet with each unit
- very safe, haven't seen a police car in 6 months
- 6 washers/dryers in each laundry room
THE BAD
- near a railroad, but really not that noisy
- near an industrial yard, makes noise at night if your windows are open
- lots of kids/families (noise)
- old pipes make noise
- old appliances in units (but functional)
- generally no frills
- squirrel infestation
- no ventilation for stove/fan
- maintenance crew is understaffed
- workout room consists of 3 cardio equipment and no TVs (very boring)
- willow trees are nice, but no real landscaping
BOTTOM LINE
You get what you pay for. At a reasonable price you're going to get a clean, maintained and safe place to live that's conveniently located. On the flip side, you're not going to get plush accommodations or granite counter tops. If you can live with the faint sound of trains in the background and the occasional kid playing on a Saturday, you'll be fine.
