I've lived here for 7 months. The other reviews make many statements so let me address them from my experience, including some of my own.

1. Silverfishes. Yes, there are lots.
2. Squirrels. I never disliked squirrels til I moved into this place, now I consider them to be rats with longer tails. They swarm over the dumpsters (which are uncovered and open 100% of the time), take trash out and eat it/leave it on my front porch frequently. I also gave up on trying to grow a plant on my deck as the squirrels would visit everyday and dig around in the pot.
3. There are dumpster divers. Yes, there are people who come to the complex and root around in the dumpster. Don't believe me' Ask a Sunnyvale cop, they've told me the same thing.
4. There are breakins in the parking lot. My car was vandalized just last week. The thief broke the window and stole several items (none of which were visible). Found out afterwards my neighbors license plate was stolen a few months ago as well.
5. Noise. My unit is in the back of the complex (the Caltrain side). The noise from Caltrain over the wall is unbearable if any windows are open, and yes, with some of the trains the whole building shakes. There is also some kind of construction yard nearby which is always powerwashing/banging/dumping stuff or yelling over a PA system. ALSO - when you tour an apt the mgt will make a big deal about noise isolation, how the place has "Condo" construction, and how noise is less as a result. Don't believe it. The pipes here moan and grown anytime anyone turns on a faucet, I can hear other people's bathroom fans, and definitely hear any reasonably loud music nearby.
6. Maintenance. In general, the place is older and shows it. I've needed a couple repairs over the months and haven't had too much of a problem getting maintenance to fix it. I can't complain there. However, I have a flexible job, and I've been able to stay home to supervise the work. ymmv.
7. Hidden charges. I haven't moved out yet, and since I've paid my rent on time I haven't encountered any funny business yet.
8. Front office. In general, I haven't had problems with the staff. In my experience they range from a little apathetic to downright nice and helpful.
9. Mail. No one else has commented on this, but the mailbox area has NO OUTGOING MAIL slot. Seriously'' You have to wait for the front office to open and then hand your letter to one of the staff to give to the mailman. I don't get it.

Pros'
The place was not as ridiculously expensive as other places last year when I needed housing. By outward appearances the place seems pretty secure for the most part as there is only one entrance, I live in the back, and there is a constant stream of people taking strolls around the other perimeter of the place.
