Reasonable rent, not the best place in town though

RW is reasonably priced compared to other local apts.

(Many tenents here have reductions using state and county programs also.)

There are much better accomodations nearby, however, if you can afford a little more.

This is one of the older (20 years /- ') apts in town.

It's viewed as the "other side of the tracks" by locals, including the newspapers ...

but you're still living in a medium-sized town, not an urban ghetto.

Safety' It's alright...

but the manager's office was burgled a few months ago and tenants were advised to get new checking accounts in case their rents happened to have been left in the "convenient" deposit box that weekend.

Other annoyances: Noisy teenagers scateboarding in the parking lots ...

small fires, probably set by kids ...

management enforces some rules but not others according to their preferences.

A few months ago, the awnings over upstairs windows were removed and not replaced.

In addition to taking away from the visual attractiveness of the complex, this also causes the interior of many appartments to be several degrees warmer ...

and this is a climate where 90's are NORMAL six months of the year and not unusual in any month.

Electric bills soar with air conditioning humming.

Be aware that in this town nobody can get TV reception without cable.

Even radio is spotty, and Rancho West is in one of the poorer locations because of the way it is situated in the valley.

For internet fans, DSL is available here from the phone company.

The local franchisee, however, does NOT offer high speed access on cable.

Please note: I have mostly emphasized the negative points about RW.

The other reviewers have poured out all positive comments, and I wanted to provide the balance.

One plus about RW I would observe is that, again due to the lay of the land, we get a great share of Temecula's afternoon breezes, which are noted for blowing off the hot temperatures so that the evenings are usually bearable.

In conclusion, I might recommend RW if you think it's the only thing you can afford.

But there are plenty of other choices, including buildings completed in just the last year only a block north of here.
