We moved into a one bedroom/one bath with a den about a year ago and the rent was $1365 with a $20 per month pet rent for our cat. A great deal for a nice neighborhood in Thousand Oaks. We just received notice that our rent is going up to $1635 per month and the pet rent is going up to $50! PLUS we will now have to pay water & trash, which is about $50 per month. Pretty ridiculous for a one bedroom if you ask me. And what's up with having to pay $600.00 per year to have a CAT'!! If we want to go to a month to month lease, we'd have to pay $2415.00! Yikes. I will say that the office staff is very friendly and efficient, and we have not had any maintenance issues or bad neighbors, etc.

Basically apartments now have the upper hand because nobody can afford to buy a home in this area so we are forced to pay these high rents for the "privilege" of living here. We'll stay one more year and then get the hell out.
