Reasonable place, greedy management

It?s a reasonable place to live. Good floor plan, nice environment and responsive maintenance crew. But be aware, the sound insulation is not good at all. I heard my upstairs neighbor using their bathroom in the middle of the night. When people walk by your window talking (with the window closed of course), you feel they are right in your room.
My overall impression about the management is that they are very, very greedy!! When we signed the contract, they forced us to start the lease a week earlier than we actually needed, saying that the unit we picked was vacant and we had to move in within a week (which we were not informed of before they showed us around). Since we already spent a couple hours touring around, we accepted this.
We were surprised again after we moved out. We only lived there for a five-month transition period. We didn?t hang a single picture on the wall; we didn?t leave a spot on the carpet; we covered all the cabinet with plastic sheet and removed them before we moved... But they still managed to send us a bill after deducting all my security deposit. This is a sharp contrast against the letter I received from my previous apartment thanking me for leaving my unit in such a good condition.
So if you choose the Knolls, just plan on saving extra $100 for every month you live there to cover your move-out costs.
