What is all the fuss'

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
I've read a lot of bad reviews for the Los Robles Apartments on this site, and I don't understand why they are so extreme. My experience living here the last couple of years has not been perfect, but it has been pleasant, and I plan to continue to live here for another year or so. Here are some of my experiences:
The staff have been friendly and helpful to me. Any issues I've had have been resolved quickly. I've been late with my rent once (I was kept away on a cursed "business trip that never ends", and I got back late), but they were understanding and there have been no penalties or rent issues since then.
In the nearly 2 years that I've lived here, I've had 5 maintenance issues, a broken kitchen drawer, ants, a broken air conditioner, a leaky faucet, and a slow drain. All of these issues were resolved within 48 hours of my reporting them. Two of them were resolved the same day I reported them (I called in the morning, they were fixed before I got home from work).
In the middle of the year, they asked if I needed anything. I couldn't think of anything, so they offered to steam-clean my carpets, which they did. I have a hard time believing the comments that claim maintainence is poor in these apartments.
What I read that -is- true is that these are older buildings. They lack the ductwork for central air, and they sometimes need repair, which I have always seen done in a timely manner.
The laundry here is done in card-operated laundry huts spaced around the apartments' campus. They recently upgraded the machines. The old ones were okay, but sometimes they broke down, which can be really annoying when several people want to do laundry around the same time. The new ones are nice, and I have yet to seem any of them break down.
I am a light sleeper. If a noise wakes me up at night, I spring out of bed. If there is constant noise, like traffic or loud neighbors, I can't sleep at all. Thankfully, there is very little traffic noise here, especially at night, and I have never been kept up by neigbors.
The grounds are very well kept. The trees, bushes, flowers, and grass are all cared for regularly, which makes it feel like I'm living in a garden. It's pleasant to just walk around the wandering paths to pick up my mail or go to the swimming pool.
I don't understand the "bad neighborhood" comments at all. Where exactly is the criminal element' There is no ghetto, no run-down area, and no gangs that I've ever seen. The parking areas are well lit, and there is always room for guest parking.
Overall, living hear has been a pleasant experience, and a welcome repreive from my extremely busy schedule.
