Modest apts, good for 1 person

These are modest apartments, none of the greater luxuries, but they were the least expensive one-bedrooms I could find in the Thousand Oaks area.
PROS: Marc the manager is quick to fix anything that needs fixing, which is good. And he's very helpful. Very easy move-in, I was approved over the span of about 2 days. I do not have perfect credit. ;-) Pretty quiet, a lot of families/kids, but the kids don't get too crazy or loud. Right across the st. from Cal Lutheran University (pretty good location). Leases are month to month! You can move out anytime w/ a month's notice. Even so, rent won't increase until you've been there for a year.
CONS: *really* steep deposit, mine was $1200. No gas, all electric. No a/c unless you pay $60 more a month (or something like that) for a unit w/ it installed. Strict rules regarding the pool (you can only take in 1 guest w/ you at a time, closes at 9). Laundry room is very insecure, I had 2 loads of clothes stolen straight from the dryers. Don't know if it was residents or off-siters. Unless you get new carpeting on move-in, expect some definite "imperfection" in that area. Mine smelled like dog (which apparently were here illegally at some point) for about 2 months, even after cleaning. The management were, however, quick to clean as many times as I wanted at no charge.
Overall a good experience, but hope to move "up" a little in the very near future. Great for young people just getting out on their own, but keep in mind these are pretty small. You won't want a lot of roommates. Great for singles.
