My apartment was just broken into yesterday (8/18/2008)!!!!!! They took our two TVs, an IPod, and ALL of my jewelry! We think they broke in from 1:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. The funny thing is the fact that no one around seems to know anything!!!!! I can't imagine someone carrying a 46 inch TV and NO ONE SAW A THING!!! People warned us about this place but we did not listen. PLEASE LISTEN!!!!! Management will not even let me put up a sign to get information from other residents. They said it is not the way they handle things here and they would charge me with solicitation! I think that residents of Sandpiper would want to know what happened to us for their own safety, but management feels otherwise. If you ask me, they do not want negative publicity. I was actually more than upset when I was told, "Well, you had renter's insurance, right'" To me that is not the point. I do in fact have renter's insurance but it dang sure is not going to help me get back my mother's necklace. We really do not care about the TVs that were taken, we only want my wedding jewelry and my mother's necklace returned. When I asked if we could put an alarm system in our apartment, guess what we were told!! We have to clear it up corporate! We are only trying to protect ourselves and our possessions and we have to jump through hoops to do that here. We were recent residents of North Pointe Apartments in Vacaville but we moved over here to save money. Please do not make the same mistake we did with moving over here to save a buck. In the long run, we lost things that can never be replaced because we moved over here. I will say the maintenance people were very helpful, but management is not. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!! PLEASE LISTEN!!!!

Someone robbed you, and you blame the management. Then you give the apartments a negative review because of a third party. Yes you have to get the OK to put in security systems because it's changing the apartments structure wether by putting holes, wires, whatever else inside the apartment. Then, if you move out, what about the security system? Do you take it with you and patch everything or leave it for the next tenant. Look at the big picture. I understand your frustrated, but you're lashing out at the wrong people. If you were renting a house and got robbed, would you blame the landlord and give them rating? So, when you do own your own home.. who are you going to blame? The agent that sold it to you?

Wow, sounds like management replying to this post and trying hard to defend themselves. It's very obvious... whoever made this post is not 'blaming' the management... although the response before me is quick to determine that. To the person who made this post: I am sorry for what happened! You have every right to be upset and feel the way that you do. I know I would be the same if I just got robbed. I don't understand why management wouldn't allow you to have a sign up to get information from your neighbors unless the are guilty or know of something (heck, maybe it's an inside job! You never know! How can NO ONE see a damn thing?!). They'll charge you with solicitation?! Wow, it doesn't make sense. "It is not the way they handle things here." NO, I guess not because in reality they don't care to help or handle this situation. There is no sense of community here because if they did care, why have they not issued fliers letting the residents know about the robbery? I have lived in many apartments before and if ANYTHING were to go down - robbery, vandalism, etc. - the management sent out fliers notifying people so they can stay guarded and protect themselves, but to also keep a look out for any suspicious activity and report them... NOW THAT is what a real management should do, and that is what a real crime watch community is all about. Shoot, if they can send out fliers and tape it door to door about like people coming in to clean the chimneys, they can sure do the same thing in letting the residents know about important things like a robbery. And about the whole renters insurance thing, that's pretty cold and harsh. So it's okay to get robbed because you have renters insurance? That isn't the point. Items were stolen that renters insurance can NEVER replace. If management had a heart, they'd know and realize that. Other people warned us about this place as well, but foolish of us, we didn't listen either. We just hoped that the experience would be a safe and good one. We are starting to have serious second thoughts about this place. My gut feeling when I first stepped foot into this place was not good - your unfortunate incident just confirms and reinforces those feelings. This is not a safe place. If robberies continue on, and if we are not notified about these occurrences like we should be, then we will most definitely not extend our lease when our time is up, and if need be, we will cancel our lease. Our safety is far more important than the false image and facade this place lends. I will definitely warn people about this place. And to the person who posted this - coincidentally I have a friend stationed at Travis who knows the people working at the housing office. I will pass this on to them and. They need to know about this. I know it won't help you get your things back, but take comfort in knowing that the housing office will take note of this and warn other people who are considering of renting here. Sandpiper doesn't want 'negative publicity' but their lack of care and positive action has brought it upon themselves. If karma works in the way that it does, just know that 'those' people (robbers included) will get what they deserve. ** BTW, if there is another response bashing mine, it's pretty clear we know it is management posing as someone else - LOL...
