Resonable rental. Terrible Parking

I've lived at Blue Rock Village for 4 months now. I wish I hadn't signed a year long lease. The unit itself is good, appliances and cabinets are not of very good quality. Our dish washers lower rack has a very annoying tendency of falling into the hole between where the door opens every time you pull it out unless you remember to hold it up. The carpet is terrible. It was new when we moved in but it might as well be rug. At every seam I can feel the spikes of the carpet retainer press against my foot.

Utilities are very annoying as well. They do not have individual meters for water/sewer, nor do they include them in the rent. The renter is responsible for ALL utilities. So they have a formula to determine how to charge you for the utilities. Beyond that they use a utility server called Ista to bill you (and charge you $5 for the privledge).

Parking here is absolutely ridiculous. I have to walk 2 building down and go through 2 security fences to get to my assigned spot. Beyond that the gate sensor does not pick up my motorcycle so I have to wait for a car to drive by to set off the sensor and open the gate so that I can go to work in the morning. There are a lot of uncovered spots if you are lucky enough to be where they are. However the assigned parking here is terrible. It needs to be redone and they have no desire to do so.

I will not be renewing my lease when it ends. Spend the extra money to get a good apartment.

I totally agree with your comments and concern. I might also add, that because of the inability to access the gate, I have received many calls from the call box at all hours of the night for someone asking me to please let them in. Of course I cannot open the gate for anyone since I don't know if it is a resident. Several months ago someone was calling from the gate several times during the day when most people are at work, (I was smart enough to have my cell phone input at the call box)this went on for a few weeks. It turned out that it was a plan to see if people were home or not, there was a burglary, it turned out to be tenants in the apartment building above me. The police were called and they were caught in an apartment, I saw them getting arrested two weeks later I saw that they had moved out. Anyone renting an apartment these days must do their homework and interview their next prospective management and apartment complex just as to not run into the same problems.
