Think Twice Before Renting

The area is the prime reason to not rent in this building. Management, maintenance and unit affordability are all pretty decent considering the size of this complex, 400 units. However, crime in this area and, specifically, in this building, is pathetic. In the 3 years I've lived here our vehicle has been broken into 4 times and our bikes, that were double-chained to a huge pillar in the garage, were stolen.
Though the building has hired a security company, the guards are pretty lax and usually you can find them sitting by the pool or talking away on their cell phone. Considering we have had numerous incidences of crime in the parking garages, the last place I want to see our security guard is by the pool. There is absolutely no guest parking, but since the garages are continuously getting hit by drug-using adolescents, I don't think I necessarily miss this aspect of the building. The most unfortunate thing about the crime is that some of the break-ins may be from people who actually live in the complex. As this complex, and other nearby apartments, widely accept Section 8 tenants.
Apartment rent is at an all-time high in the valley, so though the affordable rent is quite alluring, think twice about the area and be sure you have both decent car insurance and renters insurance.
