A mediocre experience.

I have lived at Shadowridge Woodbend Apartments for the past 3.5 years. When I first moved it, I thought this place was fantastic, the community looked great, lots of trees, greenery, plenty of well-maintained pathways, clean laundry facilities, and so on.

After the first year or so things went downhill fast. The doors in the apartment began to stick, maintenance was out almost monthly, tying to fix both the front door, patio door and storage unit door.
Never were they fixed properly, it was always the easiest, fastest fix possible. Only after I paid to have my keys changed did the front door stop sticking. I'm sure it wasn't always maintenances fault, there's simple not enough of them to go around, I can't even begin to imagine what their workload is like, they can't be held responsibly for poor construction/workmanship and shoddy plumbing. The windows are very, very drafty and nothing was done about that, nor were the carpets ever cleaned even though the management is supposed to offer you this every time you re-new your lease! A management staffer let me in on that and when I requested to have the carpets cleaned, I was never scheduled.

The plumbing here is horrendous, there is never any hot water and it's even worse now that other units have washers in them. When you do get hot water it's tepid at best. The walls are paper-thin, you can hear everything that your neighbors do during the times that they are home, it's even better when your neighbors, next door and below, have surround sound. Medal of Honor at 11 pm, sure why not'! Trance music at midnight, no-one will notice! I've been most unfortunate as I have neighbors that react negatively to a simple request to turn it down, not off, after 10 pm.

If you even bother calling Tri-City patrol, they'll tell you that there's nothing they can do about it and won't bother to show up. To quote the dispatch operator It's a part of community living . If you call the management, there's nothing that they'll do about it either, you just have to suck it up and invest in some earplugs and TylenolPM if you want more than 3 hours of sleep.

The only thing that I've never had an issue with is parking, I guess I am fortunate enough to have never been towed or have any of my guests towed, but I can imagine what a nightmare that can be if the towing service is anything like the management here.
I'm also saddened to see the large trees at the front of the complex cut down for a pair of flagstone columns, they simply do not have the same beauty as those trees did., but when you're trying to portray a certain image, nothing is spared.

Also, now that the community allows dogs, watch where you step! There is crap all over the pathways and sidewalks, it's disgusting.

All in all, it wasn't so bad, it was a mediocre experience living at Shadowridge Woodbend, and I'm glad that I'm moving out at the end of the month. I honestly hope that the next tenant who dwells in my unit has an easier, quieter time here than I did.
