Where to Start. I should have known better since all the signs where there. I needed a place in hurry and settled on Waterleaf. After laying my deposit down and doing the credit check. I asked to see "MY" apartment the one that I was going to be living in and not the model they show everyone. They were very reluctant and I told them I wouldn't sign any contracts until I saw mine. I sat in the office for over an hour as they "searched for the keys". The apartment was way different than what I thought I was going to get but I just came back from Iraq and wasn't too picky. Anyway while doing the apartment discrepancy checks usually an employee does it with you. Not at waterleaf apparently. I wrote up a list of discrepancies and hoped that would spark some concern and they would fix them. It didn't. Things like a leaking sink, Broken garbage disposal, Washer and dryer that don't work ($45 extra a month). The sink still hasn't been fixed maintenance came by twice (3 requests put in). I took 6 months for them to fix the dryer/ Washer 5 requests 20 different excuses from management and an argument and belittling of the manager finally got it done. The people here just aren't professional they show no concern for the tenants at all. The area isn't safe either. The apartment directly down stairs from was being used by some squatters about 5 months ago. I thought people were actually paying rent there, but I was wrong. Some teenagers were just coming in and using the empty apartment as a party house. The management had no idea even though cigarette butts and beer bottles were being left out by the partiers. Maintenance was cleaning up after them and didn't find it strange that the lights were on one day and off the next or the blinds were open one day and closed the next. So when an actual tenant moved in on his first night the squatters made a re entry while he was sleeping (they actually had a key). I woke up to the sounds of screaming and fighting. Management changed his lock the next day. There are allotting of door to door salesmen at this place no deterrence from solicitors at all. I get them all the way till 9pm. The pool is unsecure too. The one by the management office is fine, but the one on the other side of the complex is open to the public. Gate stays open and nobody checks on it. Punk teenagers and unruly people from the local area come by the van load (literally) during the summer. APR 08- Present.

*EDIT* Another poster complained about the water bill. I went from $35 to $75. I'm the only one that lives here. I can't imagine how much it must be for a family!!!

I left a similar post, but yours reminds me, one night a guy just walked in my living room and asked to have sex with me. Thank goodness my husband was home and when I called his name, the guy just left. Also, my garbage disposal has not worked since the day I moved in. I repeat, DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!! Especially if you are a single women.

Wow, sounds like things have not changed much since I left that place. I posted a similar complaint back in June '08 when I lived there. I now life in Florida and renting at an apartment complex that knows how to treat their tenants. A complete 180 from Waterleaf. Someone should really do something about this complex and their management because there is just too many of the same complaints against these ladies. There has to be some kind of tenat lawyer locally that can help future tenants. I might not live there anymore but people deserve to live in a good, safe, and welcoming home.

Yeah I went in yestarday to give them a 30 day warning that I would not be re-newing my lease. I know I told them originally that I wanted a 6 month lease and thought thats what I signed for. They made a number of mistakes on the original contract and when they corrected the mistakes they pulled a fast one and put me down for 12 months. I didn't realise that and signed the contract. Soooo now I'm stuck here for another 6 months. On the bright side parking is good, because everyone is leaving.

This place is horribly overpriced. not only did they randomly switch water companies (now im paying 80 something when i was paying 40) but theyve also raised the rent from 1149 to 1199 for a friggin 1 bedroom!!! oh and not only do you pay for you own inflated water bill but trash and sewage too. they consider this "extra" rent so its like your paying almost 1300 for a 1 bedroom! ridiculous! and if we werent friends with a maintenance guy then nothing would get done around here. the stuff that needed repar on our checklist that we did when we first moved in never got repaired aND ill be damned if they try to take those things out of our security deposit when we move out. lots of people around us have moved out and it doesnt look like many are moving in. Girls in the office are rude and ignorant, they lost one of my money orders and they were trying to say i owed them but i had the receipt thank god. its just a god awful place to live. I am definitely NOT renewing my lease for the money i pay to live here i can get a 2 bedroom condo thats much more kept up!!!!
