less than enamoured with leasing practices

I've lived here over 5 years and I do have to agree with the previous people who posted re: inconsistent rental policies. There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason in the way increases are determined. The people in the office will tell you that they use a consistent formula to determine increases, but that doesn't quite explain how there can be such a discrepancy between tenants who have been living here about the same amount of time in identical units. It is sad to think I'm paying more than I need to be just because I wasn't able to "strike a deal" with somebody in the office.
I do enjoy my unit, primarily because of its location within the complex. There really isn't any long-term maintenance program for long-term tenants [and in addition to the fact that long-term people end up paying more than new people coming in off the street, one must wonder if they want long-term tenants at this place], a fresh coat of paint after 5 years would sure be nice.
It's a step above the usual sardine apartment living, but a small step considering how they conduct their business and what you end up paying.
