We detest this place...

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
For the first six months of our living in this apartment we continually told personnel of the severe noise coming from the apartment above us. Personnels response was that theyd tell the people to keep it down. This worked to no avail. The noise was so deafening at times we had to leave the apartment and were literally losing hours of sleep because of it. At one point, personnel recommended that we meet these people so that their little boy could see that real people lived beneath them. Perhaps this would stop him from jumping off furniture, bouncing balls, slamming doors, and running marathons at all hours of the day or night. We were extremely baffled by this as wasnt it personnels responsibility to take care of this problem and the parents as well' We said no to sitting down and chatting with these folks and asked that personnel take care of the situation themselves. By the fifth month, after lodging dozens of complaints to the personnel, they told us we should be relieved as the folks upstairs were moving in one months time. We also found at this point and time that NONE of our complaints had been logged in their files. Meaning there is no written record of the majority of our complaints (I understand once we found this out they then started logging the complaints).
This issue along with what was poor maintenance (wood rot, peeling paint on the outside of the building), the front of our cabinets were lined with shelf paper for crying out loud! (For $1400.00 a month this really is not acceptable). They have started to paint the buildings and seem to be replacing the rotted wood I certainly give them credit for that. Management has basically shooed us away as apparently the folks that live here don't really matter to them. It's a numbers thing I guess. They are starting to rent to some REALLY questionable people who apparently do not know how to raise their kids. Parking (or lack thereof) is absolutely horrible.
I wouldnt recommend an Archstone apartment to anyone if Archstone finds this to acceptable management of their properties. I've lived in apartments throughout the U.S. and have never had an experience such as this. Neither one if us are unhappy individuals looking for things to complain about. We would just like to come home and relax which really isn't asking much. Archstone Walnut Creek is by far the worst apartment experience weve ever encountered and we really look forward to the end of our lease.
